Tips and Tricks for lighting your Tabletop Smokeless Fire Pit with Wood and Pellets

For lighting with wood:

As a safety note, please do not use the Solo Stove Mesa indoors.

Getting a fire started in your Mesa is simple and can be done is less than 4 steps, Prior to lighting the Mesa, you will need the following additional items:

A long nosed lighter or long matchstick.
A fire starter
Fuel, either sticks, chunk wood, kindling, or wood pellets

1. Unfold the stand legs until they lock into place, then place onto a level surface. Place the Mesa in the center of the stand.

2. Place your fire starter in the center of the burn chamber, use a long [nosed?] lighter to light the fire starter.

3. Start slowly adding sticks, chunk wood, or kindling. As your pieces of wood catch fire, add more as needed.

4. As more pieces catch, continue to add wood, while making sure the wood is resting underneath the holes, and that they are clearly visible after fueling.

Note: Ensure the wood is not stuffed into the stove in a way that prevents proper airflow.

For using Wood Pellets:

Wood pellets catch fire and burn slightly differently than traditional wood does, as such the process starting a fire with pellets is slightly different.

1. Once again, unfold the stand legs until they lock into place, then place onto a level surface. Place the Mesa in the center of the stand.

2. Add wood pellets o the burn chamber until they are resting below the Mesa’s interior top vent holes. Never add pellets higher than these vent holes.

3. Place a fire starter in the center of the Mesa and on top of the pellets, then use a long nosed lighter to ignite the fire starter

4. Allow the fire starter to ignite the pellets. Add small amount of wood pellets as needed. Adding too many pellets can choke out the fire and cause smoke.

Once your fire is roaring, your Mesa will be ready to warm your hands, connect with friends and family, or toast some smores.
